Frequently Asked Questions

I have special dietary requirements, can you accommodate these?

Please get in touch with us and we can discuss your requirements in more detail.

Is the yacht child friendly?

Yes, we have had children onboard many times before, with no problems.  One consideration that needs thought is that they tend to get bored on long trips, so it would be good to limit your sailing time to lots of short hops as opposed to a full day sail.  We prefer children to be 7 years old when boarding.

What makes the sailing plan?

Staying for a short time ashore before and after sailing.

Sailing from the North & getting off in the South.

Not trying to cover too many destinations in one trip (You’ll just spend all your time sailing and no time really enjoying the destinations we have on offer)

Do you have air conditioning?

No, primarily due to the amount of energy they consume and their environmental impact, we’ve opted for the more eco-friendly North East Trade wind cooling system. (Also known as opening the window) There are small and relatively quiet fans over each bed.

What electrical connections do you have onboard?

All power onboard is run on 2 sets of 12V battery banks, which are charged via a wind generator and running the engines.  As you can imagine, energy consumption is something we monitor carefully.   That said, we have the following connections in our galley that can recharge a range of personal communication and electronics like laptops, phones, tablets etc.

–        110V/400WUS x 1

–        220V/300W EU/UK x 1

–        12v  x 1

There are no electrical sockets in the rooms and we can’t handle heavier loads that something like a hair dryer would create.  (The North East Trade winds are pretty good at getting your hair dry in reasonable times too)

What happens if there is severe weather during my booking?

We limit the bookings to the safe season so we’ve not had to worry too much about this while we have had guests on board.  If a severe tropical storm was inbound on our location, we would need to leave immediately and make headway for safe waters.  If there is time, and you wanted to carry on, you could come with.  If you decided to depart as a result of the storm, we would refund you the difference.
